Since some of us don't have Facebook, I thought I would share some of the comments that are been posted.
From Facebook:
Haha. Cool idea...I'm a bit iffy about the name though, but I like the concept....I actually saw a few guys at the 2am Curfew protest wearing "mesobored" T-shirts and thought it was just another bedroom clothing label. Lol..I'll upload some work when I get a chance :)...and I dig the website too. Very nice work indeed! Who designed it?
been on the website it is cool, lots of great pics, is this an assignment, an independent web project or a web developer merely "mesobored" ? Jessica Brady i'm looking in your direction for an answer ;-)
I'd love a copy of your 'faces' picture in A4 size.Wow - this is a fantastic idea! Thankyou for sharing and I can't wait to upload!

Hey guys, just thought I would update you on how the website is going. Since last night we have had 123 different individuals jump on the site and they are coming from all over the world. We have had people from the US, Canada, the UK, Malaysia, Macao, Germany, Netherlands, Portugal, Argentina and Norway (we've even had a couple of pieces added to the site by a photographer from here). A lot of this traffic is coming as a result of referrals through forums so keep spreading the word. It's really exciting stuff!

To all those requiring the Tag It Logo and Sticker Mockups you can download the entire lot in a .ZIP from here. I have also included the font which is known as HolidayA and HolidayA Bold so that we can keep a standard on all print and web pieces. The file is a little over 7Mb Big
A style guide will be available later tonight or early tomorrow.

Well its a Sunday night.. so it's time for another project update!
I have been lucky enough to take a look through some of the update peices of work which were due in on Friday and I must say that are awesome! you guys have done an awesome job on your works! Remember another series of peices are due this coming Friday at 3:00pm, but if you have stuff ready to go beforehand, please send it to Nina... we need as much public works on the internet by the 2nd of June!
At this stage we are still going ahead with the the combined protest on the 30th (This Friday) we will be awaiting printing and tshirt information from the print team tomorrow... It looks like we are now going with an all black t with colured writing.. see below! I think this stiff looks better neways so hope you guys are happy with it!
In terms of a timeline, we have the 30th this friday with our combined protest march in the city from 5pm onwards. We will be all wearing joining in.. but happy for other suggestions if they come up tomorrow. I would also love to arrange a public art/design display in a public space on the7th of june. this will be just another way of getting this meme out in the mainstream! speaking about the internet meme, i think we are on perfect target. tomorrow we should get the website up online for the first time.. and in 2 weeks time will be accpeting use submited works...but we will need to think of effective ways of getting the message out there. be creative in your art expressions and you just might find that you are the next internet superstar!! think of ow we can all get the mesobored messgae across both online and off.. this is going to be the hardest challenege for all!
We are all going to be changing our names, status and display pictures on all our social networkds and IM clients from tomorrow for 2 weeks. please be preared to do this in class. Images and wording will be given to you tomorrow.
We will still be getting 5000 stickers printed for our 'Unmasking Mesobored" project which will be undertaken from the 7 and 8th of june! this will take place in many cities around australia and the world. A download will be available on mesobored.com this week.
Its time to start getting the message out to your friends, familes and support networks. tell them what it is all about and get them jumping onboard. it only takes one person to add their name to the mesobored roster... so get to it!!
Start thinking viral guys.. Viral marketing is the best way to get your message across.. put it in peoples face and they will take notice! but remember, its as boring as possible!
Last for tonight is the launch of kabanarama.com tomorrow. Now i am not trying to pump up my own public display or boredom here.. but you can join me 24/7 from tomorrow until saturday afternoon LIVE! on the internet to the world! Information and posts have already started going out to people about the launch.. so please log on when you can and check out what boredom means to me!
Please join us tomorrow as we present for the last time to Troy and Mark and we work out some of the larger scale projects that we are going to be implimenting over the next 2 and a half weeks! You will also be able to download the timeline and final outlines tomorrow as well.
Cya all then :-)

Does anyone know anywhere that sells bulk blank tshirts?
Unfortunately, the printing place that I contacted was unable to supply those specific colored t-shirts. He'll still do the printing for us, but we have to supply our own t-shirts.
....Or seeing from the comments that black seems to be a popular color, I thought maybe we could just get black t-shirts, with colored text.
What do you all think?
Posted in Labels: General 1 comments Posted by stephana at 7:24 PM
Mesobored T-Shirts are back!
Print team will be getting them printed next week. So could everyone leave a comment of what size t-shirt you want BY THIS SATURDAY, that would be great! I need to let the printing place know by saturday what sizes we want.
Also, could everyone bring $50 on Monday, forgot to make collections last time.
:]

Well today has been very interesting. After presenting such a formal and consumer based concept this morning, I am very proud to say that we have bought this project around 360 within the space of 6 hours! You guys must be congratulated for achieving this! We are now heading on a path that we were last Monday afternoon... that is on the path of creativity. Where boredom lies, creativty can expand the mind.. and through this idea, we want to see what YOU and the public can create.
Although mesobored is the state of mind, it IS also the project. Mesobored is almost a community that creates a positive sping on boredom.
As we have seen today, the project breif is very open for the next two weeks... design/create a peice of expresion of what the state of boredom is to you. It may be as basic or simplistic as you see fit.
One of the greatest parts of ths project is that everyone experneinces the emotion of boredom in a differnct way, for a differnce time span...so we are going to see some amazing expresions throughout the next two weeks!! Start creating now and remember to get in all this information by 3:00pm on Friday to the email address in the post below!!
Posted in 0 comments Posted by Aaron at 6:53 PM
it is now everyones job to make some sort of artwork under the mesobored theme
Be Creative, almost anything is possible
UPLOAD your work to YouTube, Deviant, Filckr or anywhere you like and
SEND through the links to your work by 3pm friday to:
7dollarsand5cents@gmail.com
Video team will email you back if you are to send your work on to the web team for the mesobored website or it will go on sevendollar site.
It is then your responsibility to spread the work far and wide... link it anywhere and everywhere, send it to your friends, look at other peoples, share them aswell.
If you want to post these works as someone else, let us know your new name... and we can become your friend/favorite
Work together if you want to do a more ambitious project.
Tell/Show your friends
Think of different ways to get the work out into the world!!
Posted in 0 comments Posted by Nina at 3:57 PM
Everyone, if you could please bring $50 tomorrow to start off the mesobored fund that would be great! We will also be taking your names and bored is statements so we can get these ready for print and to place online!
Cheers!

Hey Everyone!
Been really busy over the past 24 hours preparing for some of the stuff we are going to be talking about on Monday. I thought I would upload V2.0 of the concept information package this afternoon so that everyone knows where we stand for Monday.
This is only a draft, and will be full prepared on monday for complete disruption among the team early next week. Please read, review and of most importance, please point out all my spelling and grammar mistakes so I can adjust!!!!
A updated version of the style guide will be upload this afternoon!

Just a reminder to all Team Leaders to send then teams timeline over by Saturday. We are going to need to present this complete on Monday to the group. You can download version 1.0 of the template now from this blog, and from the downloads information to the right.
In the next update I will be making sure the PDF file isn't as long as per this revision.. sorry about that guys!
**UPDATE** - A new version of the timeline is now online. I have made it a lot smaller (since the timeline was HUUGGGEEE in the last update) and I have added in the web teams information.

Just a reminder for everyone to download Skype on the weekend. This is going to be the best way to have face to face video calls and voice calls without the need to come into uni every second day.
Team leaders will be on Skype from the weekend and happy to answer any calls (at a reasonable time). Team leaders will also have tri-weekly conference calls and the times of these will be posted shortly. Team members are happy to join in and have your day direct!
I seem to live on Skype, so please add me (aaron_meredith) if you would like to chat or know anything about the project.

Just to inform all groups that an overall project and milestone timeline will be drawn up tomorrow and will be emailed to all team leaders tomorrow afternoon/evening. It is up to each of the times to create a smaller timeline for each group which outlines your own personal milestones so that you can reach these within the project time.

I would love for everyone to take a look at the post I have made on the concept blog. Although its aimed at the concept team, it's something we all need to start thinking of as a team! From this stage to the conclusion of the project, we are going to be building and embracing this concept.
As Mark has said, we are about to try and make a state of mind and a way of life apart of history and a future... I think we all need to get our heads around the idea of a state of mind!.. Forget the ideas about fashion, music, tastes, etc... start thinking more in a psychological way! This is my explanation of the me(i)sobored state of mind....
Me(i)sobored is the psychological state of the mind intermediately between stimulation and anxiety. It is described as the creative impulse that each and everyone is presented with, but limited individuals realise and embrace. Its the middle point between continuing on your path within a stimulating world of events, or going out on a tangent and thinking beyond what the mind is callable. It can only be reached during a state of down time (boredom) where the mind is free of interesting surroundings. Once me(i)sobored is reached, creative control takes over the mind, body and spirit, presenting opportunities that cannot be reached in highly stimulating environments. Everyones approach to me(i)sobored is difference, creating a unique and individual experience to all.
If I could get every team to read this, embrace this and create based on this! Through your design, archieves and approaches, you need to get people embraced in this state of mind! Its each groups task to answer the questions of how people reach this state of mind, and what allows them to be creative once reached! How does an individual embrace this if they don't even know they have reached the peak of me(i)sosbored? How does a person reach this state of mind within boredom? How does an individual approach and live this state of mind in their own ways of life?
I hope I have posed some great questions and cleared up a lot of how this project is been progressed!!
I would love to start seeing some feedback!!! Please use the comments and tell me what you think! This is everyones project, but its getting to a point where feedback will be cut off, and we will be locked into the framework and story that creates this project
On just a final note for the evening (well morning) I would love to see as many people as possibl download and use skype! Its really hard for teams to have meetings during the week, and we doing an awesome job of meeting each couple of days! It just may make life a lot easier if Skype was used in those intermediate states of non meetings.
Cheers,

Well I know I am completely buggered from such a long day!... I think Monday's are really getting to me now!
Just wanted to give a slight update on the developments from todays class and where this now leads the project.
Leading up to today's class there really no information researched into what me.so.bored really is? How did positive boredom get the name me.so.bored? and more importantly why? Thanks to tim, we were guided down a path that we would never of even thought of, primarily because we didn't want to stick with the name. After doing some research into eastern culture history we thought we were leading down a path with too many webs, we were just going to get lost in the backstory... which we didn't want! The concept team have all this information on their blog.
So we started delving down into the meening of me and so... are they just 'notes' on the musical scale? or do these too words have a pass, either as 2 seperate words, or one? Is there ever a word such as meso?
Well... enter 'mesobored' now one word without the break points, mesobored has a meaning, a reason why it was created. Let me explain in what we believe mesobored is:
Mesobored is the intermediate or middle state of mind where nothingness prevails. Its on a direct tangent on the world that we see, but exists differnntly to everyone. Mesobord is the state of mind between the real, and imagerny where positite and creative aspirations take over and guide life forward. The greeks bought upon this term in 9-6th Century BC from the feeling of anixioty that existed when an individual took it apon themselves to think creativly duing states of down time.

Well, we have been hard at work over the weekend to get prepared the Bored style guide. This is only the very basic edition of the style guide and a full information booklet will be prepared during the week.
The reasoning we had to get this out so quick (and the reasoning is good) is because we I am already seeing work come out of some of our groups.. and its look pretty good!
**Update** added in new colour. Please note that this version of the style guide will change and be updated on a regular basis until the final guide is completed this week.
Download the basic style guide here.

Hey All,
I am just working on the presentation for tomorrow, and just let you know what's going on.
The concept group will begin the presentation outlining the research undertook into the project, before summarizing it up with our framework statement. This will then lead into the implementation of the project.
The implementation gives some explanation to how we are going to use this framework to create the reality of positive boredom. the concept team will go into the ideals behind the character implementation, the use of real mediums to play out the culture as well as the individual nature of the print campaign... but dont worry, we are only going to be touching on this... its up to all of the teams to present this information in full.
If you aren't aware, for the sake of the presentation, we are still calling the group me.so.bored. We will discuss this further as a group tomorrow as to the name of the group we are calling ourselves. The creative campaign will still be known as bored is...?
Each team is responsible for making their own presentation and for presenting as a group.
I hope we are all starting to get a feel for this concept. In the last week I know it was hard for some people to grasp the concept, but we are starting to see people getting it!... its good to see!
I should be ready to post a PDF version of the concept teams presentation in the next hour or so. I have personally also been working on typeface and logo design, which you will see throughout the presentation. The print team although have the power to creative any design they WISH!!!
Cheers!

I would like to take this opportunity to intro our new treasurer for the Bored! group... Maya. Maya will be responsible for the collection of moneies and the payments of any printing/web/design and more costs.
She will speak to you all about the collection of cash as well as the sales of t-shirts on Monday!

In conjunction with the your group leaders and the print team, we are going to be developing group t-shirts for all of us to purchase.
Each T-Shirt will have the words "Bored Is..." Followed by your name, saying or anything you want! Remember, its about what boredom is to you! These will feature the "Bored Is...?" campaign logo and Bored! logo as well as the overall look and style that we are creating
We are still looking into costs, but at this stage we are suggesting $20.00.
Maya will be taking a collection on Monday for these orders. Please email her directly for any questions, or make a comment below.

After today's very long brainstorming and revision session, we have been able to come up with the frameworks of what Bored! is all about.
As a side note, we have changed the name from Me.So.Bored to Bored! This was for many reason including how to effectively target our market better. We also wanted something which reflect the style and emotion of the project.
I know some of you are trying to still get your heads around the idea of turning an everyday emotion into a subculture, and what this culture is called... for now, we are calling is boredism. Boredism is the frameworks of the culture in which the concept team have been working on. From there, we move into the attidutes of how to get this culture into the wider society. This is where Bored! comes into play. Bored! is a group of people which are activlty engaging the community to bring about there ideals and attitudes. Its a group of people that want to change the underlyuing attitudes of boredom, and create a culture of creativity and inpired individuals. But how does Bored! get their word on the street? Well its a 2 prong attack!
The first attack is still been finilised, but very soon you are going to meet Madison Woods.
The second is the viral marketing campaign named "Bored Is...?"
Bored Is...? is the underlying attitude of the Bored! group. Boredom is such an individual emotion to have. To some, it inspires acts of unpredictability. For others it is a self driven emotion which leads to a proactive approach in life. Bored Is...? is about the taking an individual emotion and making it a communal experience. Through print, web and motion graphics, we aim to bring Bored Is...? to life in as little as 3 weeks time!
The whole project comes down to the following few sentences:
"Boredom takes life on a tangent which leads to unpredictability. Our lifestyle is to seek proactive stimulation...to find new situations and new experiences to be engaged. It is important to understand that the source of boredom is within your own mind, the consequences of not understanding this may lead to an individual not releasing their full creative, social and proactive potential."We are about to endeavor on a project which could change the attitudes of many in society today. What we create, through our designs and thought process will have an impact on the wider community both now and into the future.

yes! concept team: keep developing the philosophy for me so bored - it is crucial to refine it as much as you can by Monday - this will be the groups platform and departure point for the rest of the project.
As a side note: it is great to see some of you have embraced the concept - good work! I am encouraged by your efforts.
For the students who have not participated yet; please remember 25% of the projects mark is for individual participation. So get proactive!
Mark

Well neither has Ray himself... cause he isn't real. This was bought to the attention of me this afternoon by the Print team, and I think that is exactly what we are looking t producing to start the campaign off with.
From the indications that I got last week, this would be a good point to begin with. Making up a character name and image and releasing them onto the world. This would mean the first aim and goal of the Web team would be to make this character come to life on the web through social networking and a character on forums etc..

Just a reminder that there is a group leaders meeting at 11:00am tomorrow at Monash. I know a lot of other groups are having there meetings tomorrow and Friday as well, so its a good that we should get a good indication of where we stand.
Just a reminder that once you guys have got all your research information by 12:00pm TOMORROW, could you please email it to our email address rootnegativeone@gmail.com

Bored is no longer an emotion, its a lifestyle! (on our eyes and the eyes of out beholders) but how do you create a word for what we are trying to achieve? How can you give an emotion a underlying term to describe positive boredom? Well thats the task that has been given to the Web Team. This reminds me of a ad from this year which was shown in the UK.... This is how all these new terms are created...
Posted in 1 comments Posted by Aaron at 10:14 AM
I think you guys are starting to move in the right direction - 'boredom is..." what a great start! and leaves open the possibility for a positive experience; bored is the new black!.
Posted in 0 comments Posted by mark at 2:56 PM
I saw this video in a festival a few years ago - a real crowd pleaser! for some reason when i think of the boredom concept I think of this video - perhaps it is the quirky nature of the video - both amusing and informative - makes light of the subject matter and the broader cultural framework within which it is deployed. clever and yet... the subject matter is... not interesting - kindof sushiboredom.

As per group discussion this afternoon, each of our teams is required to undertake an element of research. This research may be conducted in whatever manner that you wish. Each group has been allocated a particular research area. This information has also been placed on your teams blogs.
Information about the fundamental structure of the concept will be available tonight.
Please complete this element of research by 12:00pm on Thursday the 8th May.
Concept - Research the concept behind Boredom. What is Boredom in a psychological and philosophical way? Is Boredom just an emotion or a state of mind? Effects of Boredom on individuals as well as groups. Causes and Effects.
Motion Graphics/Video - Research the ideas behind cultures and subcultures. This may include youth sub/cultures and popular culture. What makes these trends mainstream? How do they effect the way we act, dress, listen and speak? What would your ideas be behind the culture of boredom?
Web - You guys are the research the term neologism, and in what ways this term relates to what our group is trying to achieve. Points to think about is the culture shift away or towards a certain mainstream ideal. Neologism is also related to words, and how these words create the basis of the culture. Your aim is to try and make Boredom and the idea of neologism relevant.
Print/Other Media - Since this was your concept originally, your group knows exact what you meant by the terms" Boredom is been positive" Your task is to further research the ideals beghind positive boredom. Does it exist and in what ways? Is there even such positive boredom as a emotion? How would this fit into the task at hand, and what relationship does it have to mainstream culture?
Please speak to your team leaders or myself for further information. Nina will be posting over the next couple of hours more information about the fundamentals of the project so this will give you a base for your research.
